Battle of the Name Brands

I'M LISTENING TO: BABYFACE - Sorry For The Stupid Things
The average teenage mind has become corrupt over the past few years. Disappointing is what I call it. I'm just coming out of the stage where I wanted to be wearing those expensive played out brand names that everyone else had in their closets. So pathetic, I know! Maybe I'm being a little to harsh about it, but we really have to get our mind set out of wanting all the expensive material things out there just to feel better about ourselves. A lot of it is about our insecurities and how wearing those expensive clothes would make us feel better about ourselves. Parents these days spoil their kids much more than they should be - and this is coming from a teenager. When I reflect on everything that I get from my mom, it's unbelievable that I can just ask for something, whine a little bit and get it. Now I'm filled with all this guilt because it definitely should not be like that. Us teenagers have been growing up in a different generation where we're used to getting what we want and our minds are much more influenced by TV and magazines .. a much different environment than our parents or grandparents. Still, that shouldn't be a reason for teens to spend their time on rocawear or babyphat.com searching for a flashy jacket that their friends would envy.

Since when was good style determined by the name brand and price tag of your clothes? I believe style is how YOU put together your outfit, regardless of where it comes from or how much you pay for it. Not because you see a celebrity wear it, or it's the next hot thing that all the other people are wearing. You could pick something from the thrift store, and match it with an old necklace & etc .. and it could work for yourself. It's all about the type of look that you're going for.

I was at Winners the other day with a friend and found a pair of flared jeans that I would regularly never wear - but in my head I pictured cutting off the part below the knee and re-sewing it to make them a pair of bermuda shorts. If you saw the look on my friends face you would have thought she had seen a ghost. A look of mingled disgust was on her face and I just ignored it. Fine, be closed minded .. the pants were $15.99 any ways!

Personally, I miss the days where we could just go to school not caring what kind of clothes we were wearing, and only thought about having a good time. Don't get me wrong, it's great to care about your appearance, but society has come to a point where the clothing we wear is often on our minds.

you know, i agree with you all the way. i don't really care for the brands, i just think that if it looks good, i'll buy it. and i'm not just saying that. i like to mix colours and patterns, and wear things girls wouldn't usually wear. pink suits that mix with black, grey etc. are usually my favourite. :3

u have a nice voice!!

Screw fashion, I just put on my pants, a short sleeved shirt, my glasses, and I don't look half bad. You think differently than the crowd, which is nice once in a while. One of the fashion diva's (I hate that word!) in my school stooped to the level of bragging about being spoiled. Even her friends are sickened. Personally, there are alot of expensive things I'd love to have, like a new computer, things like that, but clothes are something that I don't get. People spend hundreds of dollars on fashion when they could easily put together something that looks nice every single day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! ^_^
Fashion is a funny business. I find it funny that people WILL spend a hundred on something they'll wear for probably one season at best. No one even thinks about the poor soul that made the garment in a sweatshop, or just exactly how much they're being ripped off...
Fashion IS what you make it.
BTW, you have a pretty, clear voice! Doesnt singing sitting with your knees up kinda kill your breathing though? I prefer standing myself..

Don't know how you found your way to my blog, but thanks for dropping in.

You are so right about the fashion fascists.

I stop over in Winnipeg on my way to Edmonton in a little under two weeks.

Thanks for your comment. I agree with your post, yet I laugh at it too, I am half and half I guess. I go through stages of buying branded clothes. Sometimes I think it's worth it, but othertimes I love to find a bargain! Take care, x

Woot they missed spelled fuck BTW :)
