We ate mad junk food and roasted marshmallows on a candle which surprisingly tasted pretty good. Though I think there must have been something wrong with the marshmallows because they turned black right away instead of browning first. I think it had something to do with the wick & the wax on the candle .. might have not been the healthiest way to roast a marshmallow. Plus, my throat kind of started to hurt afterwards .. hahaa us and our experiments. I knew I should have listened to them and roasted it over the stove. Uuuh, I think me and my friends should just have a real bonfire instead of these around the house substitutions .. haha!
We watched Crash which I had been waiting to see ever since it first came out. All I can say, is that it is the most thought-provoking insightful movie I've ever seen in my whole life. For anybody who has heard of this movie or still hasn't gotten the chance to watch it, or whose never heard of it in the first place - PLEASE check it out! I knew it would be good after watching reviews on Oprah, but I didn't anticipate it being THAT good. I won't give the plot away, but there's a certain irony in it that just makes me love it even more. It centers on racism, family issues and everyday crisis' which they somehow stuffed into 122 minutes. The back cover says, "It will shake you up" and I'm sure it shook up everyone who watched it at my house. I think the 21st century really needed a movie like this.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges actually makes a great transition from Rapper/Artist to believable actor. I thought his performance in this movie was great. Actually, everyones performance in this movie was great. You had Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Terrence Howard, Brendan Fraser, Ryan Philippe & more which I think is basically a "Star" cast. Experienced actors who know how to really express their character's personality. I'm no expert movie critic, but anyone with a brain and a heart would fall in love with Crash.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I did my Grade 2 Music Rudiments exam today. All that studying and the exam was a breeze *knock on wood*, haha! Headed to <a href"http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/home.do" target="new">Old Navy with my mom afterwards, which is the first time me and her have gone out together in a long while. Nothing I liked was on sale, but they had some good promos so it was cool. I treated my mom out to some Moxies, which wasn't as good as it normally is. Man, I hate when I really start to like a restaurant and all of a sudden they totally stop meeting up to my expectations from prior times I've ate there. Like this other time, I ate at one of these great restaurants in my area called Mitzies. It's originally a chinese food restaurant but they serve awesome chicken fingers. Anyways, my chicken fingers were great but since when did a meal consists of like 3 pieces of mushroom and a couple grains of rice? Okay, slight exaggeration but I swear meal portions are getting smaller and smaller! We're hungry people alright!? Gaaaah.

Since I'm on the topic of food, I have to treat out my friend to dinner or something now that I got my paycheck. Judging by all the time she's treated me out, I guess it's only fair if we go somewhere real nice. I'm thinking of this place called Ivory that serves Indian Cuisine. I first went there with my mom because she wanted to try it. I was a bit skeptical but it's such a classy restaurant. Their buffet has such great food and it looks so, clean. Haha, that's the only word I can think of to describe .. I like it (Y). Now, I guess you can tell I like food =)

Alright well I guess I'll wrap this up and listen to some old Celine Dion CD's. Maybe you guys would want to check out some of her songs, her voice is amazing - so crisp and clear. Kind of reminds me of Mariah Carey because they both have such clarity in their voices. It's funny how I can never listen to one of their songs all the way through without having to sing along. Which reminds me, I've got to start looking around my city to see if there are any places looking for singing entertainment or something .. I've got to get my voice out there somehow, right?

Thanks for reading, have a good weekend!

Battle of the Name Brands

I'M LISTENING TO: BABYFACE - Sorry For The Stupid Things

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe average teenage mind has become corrupt over the past few years. Disappointing is what I call it. I'm just coming out of the stage where I wanted to be wearing those expensive played out brand names that everyone else had in their closets. So pathetic, I know! Maybe I'm being a little to harsh about it, but we really have to get our mind set out of wanting all the expensive material things out there just to feel better about ourselves. A lot of it is about our insecurities and how wearing those expensive clothes would make us feel better about ourselves. Parents these days spoil their kids much more than they should be - and this is coming from a teenager. When I reflect on everything that I get from my mom, it's unbelievable that I can just ask for something, whine a little bit and get it. Now I'm filled with all this guilt because it definitely should not be like that. Us teenagers have been growing up in a different generation where we're used to getting what we want and our minds are much more influenced by TV and magazines .. a much different environment than our parents or grandparents. Still, that shouldn't be a reason for teens to spend their time on rocawear or babyphat.com searching for a flashy jacket that their friends would envy.

Since when was good style determined by the name brand and price tag of your clothes? I believe style is how YOU put together your outfit, regardless of where it comes from or how much you pay for it. Not because you see a celebrity wear it, or it's the next hot thing that all the other people are wearing. You could pick something from the thrift store, and match it with an old necklace & etc .. and it could work for yourself. It's all about the type of look that you're going for.

I was at Winners the other day with a friend and found a pair of flared jeans that I would regularly never wear - but in my head I pictured cutting off the part below the knee and re-sewing it to make them a pair of bermuda shorts. If you saw the look on my friends face you would have thought she had seen a ghost. A look of mingled disgust was on her face and I just ignored it. Fine, be closed minded .. the pants were $15.99 any ways!

Personally, I miss the days where we could just go to school not caring what kind of clothes we were wearing, and only thought about having a good time. Don't get me wrong, it's great to care about your appearance, but society has come to a point where the clothing we wear is often on our minds.
